What kind of documents are needed to rent a car?

To rent a car you need a copy of passport and a driver’s license valid during the car rental period. Driving license printed in Latin of Cyrillic is valid for one year since your arrival in Georgia.

How do I sign the contract?

According to the documents you sent (passport and driving license) we prepare the contract in advance, but you sign it when you pick up the car and at the same time you make full payment. It takes 10-15 minutes to sign the contract and pick the car up.

How do I choose the desired car?

The process of choosing the car via the website is very easy. By clicking the buttons and text tips you can easily find and choose them according to the price, types, brands, categories, gearbox, number of seats and other data.

What language can I contact with you?

Our operators are fluent in English, Russian and Georgian, you can contact them during 24/7. Through the website you can book any car from English, Hebrew and Russian versions of website.

How long before can I book the car?

Through the website the car must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. By e-mail and phone you can book the car even if less than 24 hours are left before the renting period starts. In this case please make sure if the car you want is available during the requested period.

What is the guarantee that I will collect exactly the car I have booked?

For this purpose there are real photos of cars and therefore the particular car will be conveyed to a customer.

In case of replacement (a vehicle breakdown or other reasons) the company is responsible to provide you with a car with the same class, type and gearbox.

How can I cancel the booking?

You can cancel your booking using your unique Reservation ID here https://carsandrooms.ge/my-bookings/
The booking can be canceled 24 hours prior to the hiring period without any penalty.
If you have paid in advance you will get your money through the same payment method.

How can I extend renting period?

The renting period can be extended using your unique Reservation ID here https://carsandrooms.ge/my-bookings/ if the required car is not reserved during the period you requested. For this you should check on the website if the car you requested is available or contact us at our office or email us. In case of existing booking the car can be replaced with other similar vehicle.

In which currency can I pay for renting the car?

The national currency of Georgia is Lari (GEL) and the payment is done with this currency. If you have another currency USD or EUR we can help you to exchange it according to the official rate of National Bank.

What would happen if I was fined while driving the rented car?

Fine may be given to a driver by the Patrol police personnel, which must be fully paid within a month. Video penalty can be issued due to the violation observed on the roads by the installed cameras. In this case you will get a notification from our office about payment and you will have to pay fine through the bank or ATM, penalty can be also paid on cash in our office with our representative while returning the car.

For a wrong parking you can find a fine ticket on the windshield or the car may be taken to a penalty parking lot. The fee for the fine ticket can be paid through the bank or ATM. In case of towing the car to the parking lot immediately notify our office about it and we will help you to return the car from the penalty parking lot. In this case the customer is responsible to cover all charges, to pay the penalty and parking cost.

What kind of damage will not be compensated by the insurance company?

The insurance company will not compensate the damage of engine, transmission, tire, suspension system if this damage is not caused by the accident. If the damage is caused by the driver intentionally he/she is obliged to fully reimburse the loss.

Is the deposit required?

Most of the vehicles are hired without a deposit. The car which requires the deposit can be marked and by clicking the picture you can find the amount of deposit. Deposit rate depends on the car and varies from 100 to 400 EUR.

What kind of vehicle can I rent in your company?

We have a wide range of cars such as: sedan, jeep, minibus, limousine economical and business class cars.

What is the technical condition of the rented car?

All cars are in the best technical condition, since they are exposed to a technical maintenance and visual inspection before renting in our own auto service. New brand cars still have factory guarantee. For the safety reason, all cars are equipped with the appropriate tires for each season.

What type of fuel should I put in the car and which gas station would you advise?

We recommend you the following gas stations: Rompetrol, Lukoil, Gulf, Wissol, Socar stations. These gas stations are located throughout Georgia. Most of the vehicles consume Euro-regular (92/93 octane), Premier (95 octane), Super (98 octane) and diesel (Euro-5). The price on which is ranged from 65 to 85 EUR.

How can I check the car before collecting it?

Our company GIKO Travel LTD recommends you to get a car in compliance with the following rules.

  1. Examine the interior and exterior of the car visually. If you notice some damage, take photo in presence of company representative;
  2. Check the amount of fuel and write down the data or take photo of indicator panel;
  3. Check the car mileage and write down the data or take photo of indicator panel;
  4. Check the oil in the engine;
  5. Check the cooling fluid;
  6. Check the brake fluid;
  7. Check the windshield washer fluid;
  8. Check whether the vehicle is equipped with a spare tire, a jack and a wrench;
  9. Check electrical devices, front and side lights, flickers, heating system, air conditioner, doors and windows lock;
  10. Start the car, warm-up the engine and check the brake.

Taking into consideration our recommendations, the problems will be reduced to minimum. Recommendations are important to eliminate car failure during the leasing period.

How can I find you at the airport?

If you book the car to collect it at the airport, our representative will meet you at the arrival hall entrance with the banner with your name and surname on it to find us easily. Besides, you will get the telephone number of our representative who will meet you at the airport at least 2 days prior to your arrival.

Is it possible for another driver to cross the border?

When crossing the border the car must be driven by the driver who has license certified by the Notary Bureau, it is also mandatory to cross back the state border by the same person.

Is the driving restricted on the territory of the Georgia?

There are two conflict zones in Georgia: Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia. The border is closed and it is prohibited to cross it with the hired vehicle.

What kind of documents are needed to drive a car?

When driving a car you need a driver’s license and a passport. If requested you must submit them to the patrol police.

Is there any age requirements to rent a car?

To rent a car you must be at least 21 years old and have no less than one year driving experience.

You can book a car in three different ways:

To book the car via website is very easy, first you should choose the car you want, then fill in some required fields (location, date, time, your personal information, contact information, etc) While booking you can specify, in the ’special field’, the exact location of picking up and dropping off the car or ask the question you are interested in, we answer the question as soon as possible.

Booking process is considered to be completed when you confirm by clicking “Accepted” button through your e-mail.

How long before can I book the car?

Through the website the car must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. By e-mail and phone you can book the car even if less than 24 hours are left before the renting period starts. In this case please make sure if the car you want is available during the requested period.

How long can I rent a car?

Through the website renting the car is available during any period, but not less than 2 days. The vehicle can be booked for at least one day period (24 hours) through the e-mail and telephone.

How is the fee for renting calculated?

The cost of the rent is calculated per day, 24 hours from the picking up the car is considered one day, in case of the incomplete day (less than 24) the fee is calculated as one full day. The company does not requested additional fee for one or two hours delay after the expiration time.

How can I change car booking?

You can change the booking date, time, location or any other data using your unique Reservation ID here https://carsandrooms.ge/my-bookings/
Also, you can contact us via email at least 24 hours prior to the renting period.

How can I pay for my rental?

The full rental cost must be paid before collecting the car or earlier.

Rental cost can be paid in three different ways:

  1. By cash after signing the contract;
  2. Transfer through the bank according to the invoice. The transferring must be done at least one week prior to renting period;
  3. By credit card. In this case 5% of the payment service can be added to the rental cost.

What does the rental cost include?

  1. 100% insurance of the car, the driver and the third person;
  2. Unlimited mileage;
  3. Parking cost in Tbilisi;
  4. All additional cost taxes;
  5. Deposit on some cars which is returned to the customer immediately when the car is delivered.

What insurance conditions do you offer?

Each vehicle is insured in the leading Georgian insurance company. The insurance company covers 100% of the damage caused by the car accident, natural disaster, theft and other misfortunes. In case of a car accident the driver does not pay anything for the car or the third person. If the driver (a person who drives the hired car) causes an accident, he has to pay only administrative fine for violation of the traffic rules.

The life insurance of the driver and the passengers is 10000$, this amount can be increased up to 20 000$ or 50 000$. For this you have to send us a copy of your passport at least 4 business days in advance before the rental period starts.

The life insurance for a driver and passengers is limited to 20 000$ and additional fee is 30 euros, if the amount is increased up to 50 000$ the fee is 65 euros.

According to the insurance policy, the number of drivers is not restricted (a hired vehicle can be driven by several different drivers without any extra payment).

But the following rules must be obeyed:

  1. The driver must be no less than 21 years old;
  2. The driver must have at least one year of driving experience;
  3. The driver must have a valid driving license;
  4. The driver must not drive the car under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
  5. The driver must not give the car to a person who does not meet the requirements listed above;
  6. Do not start the car from the accident site and immediately call the police 112 as well as our office and the insurance company.

At the time of the car accident it is necessary the police to fill in the documents and the insurance company will compensate the damage based on this documents. Otherwise if the driver does not call the police, our office and the insurance company he will be responsible to compensate all losses.

The driver must take care of the car tires while driving on the rough roads. This case is not considered as an accidental damage and no insurance company in Georgia will compensate this damage. Having damaged the tire, the driver is responsible for reimbursement losses which is ranged from 40 to 110 EUR.

Insurance Assistant Service:

    1. In case of flat tire you can contact the insurance company and their representatives will help you to change the spare tire;
    2. If fuel is run out you will be provided with enough fuel to drive to the nearest petrol station by the insurance company representative. This amount of fuel should be paid in cash;
    3. If the battery becomes low the representative of the insurance company will help you to start the car;
    4. If the vehicle breaks down, the insurance company will help you to evacuate it to the nearest auto service for free.

What should I do if the hired vehicle is stolen?

Such case has not been recorded yet, but if it happens you are obliged to call the police immediately also our office and insurance company. Please take into consideration, that you must not leave the key in the car, otherwise the insurance company is not responsible for reimbursing the cost of stolen car.

Is the mileage limited?

The mileage is unlimited for all cars.

Can I rent a car with a driver?

You can hire any kind of car with a driver in Georgia as well as in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

If the cars do not have the option „Rented with a driver”, while booking check the appropriate option, for instance, „Driver service in Tbilisi” or “Driver service out of Tbilisi” . Driver service cost on the territory of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be determined according to the agreement.

In which condition do we collect and return the car?

We are responsible to deliver clean car. Through our website you can book a car with full tank by checking the appropriate option „with prepaid full tank”. In this case you will get a car with full tank and return with empty tank. The cost for the rest fuel in the tank will not be compensate. In case if you will check the option „full tank- full tank” you will get the car with full tank and you must return he car with full tank. If you do not return the car with full tank you are charged the cost of fuel.

If you do not check any of these options you will get the car with minimum amount of fuel to reach the gas station. In this case you should return the car with the same amount of fuel as you collect it with. If in the process of returning the car it will be found out that some damage is the driver’s fault you are obliged to fully compensate the damage.

Can I rent the car with additional equipment?

We offer all necessary travelling equipment such as: GPS navigator, infant seat, toddler seat, roof rack, roof basket, ski and bicycle clasps, anti-slip chains, tow chain, cell phone charger, MP-3 player. To book the equipment you need to check the appropriate option while booking. Equipment prices are given on our website.

Where can I collect and return a car?

We offer you pick up and drop off service in the office as well as in the airports in hotels or on any other places of Georgia. The places where you can collect or return a car can be different and you should check the appropriate option while booking and you will get the car without coming to the office. Picking up and dropping off service is free of charge from our office but on other places we charge you minimum price which depends on the distance from our office.

The places and the prices of picking up and dropping off service can be found on the webpage. The car cannot be collected or returned outside the country.

What are working hours at your office?

Our office works from Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 18:00. During the non-working hours our representatives, who will meet you at the specified time and place, will help you to collect and return the vehicle. Thus “picking up and dropping off” service works 24/7 including holidays and any days off, without any delays and extra fees.
